We were contracted to develop a scientific consensus statement and run a Brussels-focused media campaign to support lobbying for tighter restrictions on the use of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) within a piece of electronics legislation.
- Assembled a project committee to develop strategy and handle scientific review, media relations and outreach to scientists
- Built a database of scientists with expertise in BFRs who were likely to also be sympathetic with the objective, involving 90 researchers in the proposal
- Delivered a peer-reviewed statement summarising the state-of-the-art of knowledge and the need for legislative reform
- Produced an end-of-project report and debrief, summarising strategic lessons from the project for similar initiatives which the client might in future undertake
